This is probably my last post here for the year. It’s not been that great of a year for finishing the reading of novels, but I’ve achieved a lot of other stuff.
Currently rereading The Lord of the Rings trilogy for the course I’m running, The Wheel of Time (Eye of the World) because of the Prime series. Also reading Domenica de Rossa’s One Summer in Tuscany.
There are various other bibs and bobs for work, because I’m full steam ahead with the academic writing and research. But stuff like that should stay off this blog to preserve the integrity and privacy of my research (and yes, it includes scifi and fantasy novels that I can’t talk about here for REASONS). Ditto the language-learning and chess stuff. It’s happening, I’ve just decided it’s nobody’s business except my own re what I learn on my own time, as a method of self-care and coping with the chaos of the world around us.
I’m going to be extremely busy till January with two guest lectures (I’ll be reading up a storm for those), academic chapter and proposal delivery, several types of research red-tape, and two articles that need to be submitted. I think these are all good things because I’m an active and agile-minded literary academic and critical theorist again. But it means other things need to be streamlined for now. Including this blog.
I am only one woman, trying to live her best life, doing the things she loves. This means, I must make my life conducive towards doing these things. In peace and in relative sanity.
Have a Happy (or, failing which, Relatively Peaceful) New Year.
